Record Store Day 2015 Exclusive Release
Ok, so not technically a new release but for Record Store Day 2015 another batch of Kings of Rock 'n' Roll will be available again for a limited period. 2015 also coincides with the 30th anniversary of the recording of this fine audio masterpiece. The good people at Dragnet Records will have an exclusive version available from the shop in Leeds on April 18th which will include a colour print along with an insert so grab it while you can pop-pickers!

1000 Downloads!!!
Well, I know in the grand scheme of things this is pretty small change but today we just hit the 1000 downloads mark for the Mutants album from the Media-fire host. Admittedly, its taken two years to get there but even so.....
Could even be troubling the charts soon if we're not careful (do they still have charts?!)
So thanks to everyone who has taken the trouble to listen. Feel free to re-post on any other blog and remember kids, you can still get the real vinyl version from several discerning stockists around the globe.

The Mutants no-fidelity platter is now on the sonic smorgsbord of goodies at the marvelous Timebomb Record in Hyde Park, Leeds. I would thoroughly recommend a visit for anyone into collecting old vinyl, particularly of the rock variety. Cheers guys!

American Mary Katharine Isabelle Soska Sisters
Went to see a screening of American Mary last night, The latest film by The Sorska Sisters and starring Katharine Isabelle (probably best known for her role in the Ginger Snaps series)and very good it was too. Had the pleasure of chatting briefly with all three after the screening and what a charming trio they were.
The only possible link I can make with the M.O.T.H as an excuse for writing about it here (do I need an excuse? ) is that I was accompanied by The Drift ('producer' of the album). Anyway, would recommend the movie to any horror buffs.

Peter Hook - Joy Division
I was attempting to make another vid the other day (but abandonned the idea when the effort began to outweigh any potential benefits) when I started remanicing about old VHSs and it prompted me to write this (which I had intended to write about at the time - but never got round to it).
Some months ago I met Peter Hook (of Joy Division, New Order fame) at the Song Writers Conference at Leeds College of Music (cheers Dale!)who is not only very interesting and funny but a nice chap to boot. Anyways, I recounted the tale of Bad Rockin'Beresford (Mutants bass man)who many years ago, as an avid Joy Division fan had splashed out on a Joy Division video tape. And I mean splashed out (back in those days music VHS tapes, any videos come to think of it, were bloody expensive) about £30 as I recall (about a weeks wage). The thing was he didn't have a video player (nor did any of us come to think of it) and thus spent most of his time trying to find someone to badger into letting him watch it at their place.
Beres, if you read this, Mr Hook apreciated your investment and asked me to say thanks.

Patricia Morrison - Sisters of Mercy / Gun Club / Damned
After having a look at some traffic stats for this blog, I was surprised at how many folks had arrived after trying to find info on Patricia Morrison. Despite having included the picture towards the bottom of the blog, I realised there was no explanation for the pic, so for anyone interested, here goes....
The photo was taken at the Warehouse nightclub in Leeds (I think it was March '83, but I may be wrong. We had gone down to see the Gun Club who Patricia was playing with at the time and they were being supported by the Sister of Mercy (also a Leeds band who only had a couple of singles out at the time and who she later joined).
We'd first heard of her through her being a member of the excellent LA punk band the Bags (whose Babylon Gorgon single is one of the finest punk records ever made in my humble opinion). Anyway we got talking up in the bar after the show and so impressed her with our knowledge of the LA punk bands of the late 70's that she put us all on the guest list for their show at Sheffield that weekend. This was the one and only time I've been on a guest list so I still feel very honoured.
The gig was excellent but after putting away several beers too many we thought we were the new best friends of the Gun Club and poured, mob-handed, into the changing room and preceeded to munch our way through their sandwiches and beer. I can't believe how civil they were and I remember Jeffery Lee Pierce very politely asking us to leave after about fifteen minutes. I'm sure I'd have told us to 'fuck-off' long before that!
I still feel embarrassed about that to this day. Sorry Patricia!
And a shot of her in action at the Sheffield gig which I have just uncovered after going through some old pics.

Cheap Publicity Tactic Nirvana Green Day Free Downloads
Please excuse this scandalously cheap attempt at driving traffic this way...I'm just going to mention a few bands who we have absolutely nothing to do with..let's say...Green Day for example. Or how about Nirvana? Surely we'll get some clicks for mentioning them. That'll do for now, although I might need to put those names in the title box for google to pick them up. Let's see. Oh by the way...the album is still FREE to download from Mediafire (that's unless the CIA or whoever decide they want to shut that down too)
